I haven’t written one of these in a while, so I thought it’d be nice to share my thoughts on my current makeup favorites.
Flyliner Longwear Liquid Eyeliner
In January, I bought the Stila liquid eyeliner and now, 6 months later I’m scraping the bottom of the barrel. Anyway, the shelf life of liquid eyeliners is 6 months max before they start to dry out. Coincidentally, Fenty Beauty released new products this summer which include the Moroccan Spicy palette, eyeshadow brushes and a liquid eyeliner! I got the latter on the launch day. I put it on and oh em gee. It glides on super easily. No need to go over the same spot again or place the pencil sideways. It’s also super easy to hold and the pigment doesn’t budge! If you’re a beginner, this eyeliner is made for you. The pigmentation is crazy so you have to wait a few seconds for it to dry before you blink, otherwise you’ll get some transfer on your crease!
Coco Rouge Chanel Stylo
It’s so funny the idiosyncrasy once you find once you start getting into something like makeup. Now I can’t leave the house without putting anything on my lips or else I’ll feel incomplete. Besides my Charlotte Tilbury lipstick in Bond Girl, I was keen to get a high-end, everyday lip gloss. Unsatisfied with the options at Sephora, I headed to Bloomingdale’s and browsed the different makeup counter brands. The packaging from Chanel lip glosses instantly caught my eye. I tried all of them before going for 214 Message. It’s sooo pretty. Coco Rouge is the perfect everyday lip gloss color. It melts beautifully when you apply it and is super creamy thanks to the hydrating ingredients. This lip gloss is sheer, but it’s extremely pigmented and buildable, providing you with a beautiful, subtle sheen to your lips. It also feels super luxurious, but that’s only because it’s Chanel. It’s also ideal if you’re on the go and you want to add a quick touch of color to your lips without committing to lipstick.
If you go to Sephora, you’ll see the new Marc Jacobs Enamored Hydrating lip gloss on the display shelves as soon as you walk in. I didn’t like this one. It has a minty smell and is super glossy. I had to take it off immediately after applying it. I have a very specific skin tone and I’ve tried lip glosses from almost every high-end brand: Laura Mercier, Hourglass, Bobbi Brown, YSL, you name it. None of these enhanced my natural lip color like Chanel did.
Glossier Cloud Paint in Storm
Surprise surprise! Glossier does it once again. Last month, they added two new blushes to the Cloud Paint collection: Storm and Dawn. I went to the Glossier store, which has honestly become my second home, and tried on both. Dawn is an orangey/tangerine color. I’m super picky about lipsticks and blushes and this one didn’t work out for me, despite the fact that the salesgirl put it on me to convinced me that it looked good. It didn’t really show up on my skin or compliment my features. It was just orange. I’m pretty sure it looks good on other skin tones.
Storm, on the other hand was a beautiful dark red plum color with a warm undertone that gave me that natural effortless flush, super similar to the Bare mineral blush You Had Me At Merlot. This is actually my first Cloud Paint purchase. From the reviews, the new formula is better than the previous ones.
Essence lip liner
I didn’t know how much of a difference a lip liner could make. Not only does it make your lips look plumper, but it also helps the lipstick stay on much longer and defines your lips like nothing else! I know I’m incredibly late to the party, but I can’t walk through the door without lining my lips. I’m particularly obsessed with Essence Cosmetics. For $1.29 it can’t get any better. Super creamy formula that stays on! You can find Essence Cosmetics products at Ulta, Target, Amazon and their official website.
Supergoop Sunscreen
Summer is in full swing and of course, sunscreen is an everyday must! I’ve been using this religiously for the last months and will probably use this brand for the rest of my life. I can’t tell you how satisfying it is to apply this every day without white residue. It melts in your skin instantly. When I moved here, I remember people always telling me I had a white cast on my face, despite trying to rub it in multiple times. I look forward to dousing myself in this from head to toe every day! A month ago, I was casually browsing the Supergoop aisle and one of the salespeople, a girl with a deep complexion, told me she didn’t wear sunscreen because of this specific problem. I grabbed the Supergoop tube and squeezed one pump on the back of her hand. Indeed, she was impressed at how quickly it dissolved in the skin. I use the Everyday Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 50 but on Instagram, everyone seems to be going for the Unseen Sunscreen. It’s more expensive, but it also doubles as a primer before makeup.

Anastasia BH does it once again!!! With the overwhelming number of palettes on the market, this one instantly captured my attention as soon as I saw the picture on Instagram.
As customers, we are saturated with the constant release of new palettes almost every week: Urban Decay, Marc Jacobs, Dior, Nars, Tarte…the list goes on and on. I like the majority of these brands, but none of their palettes speak to me. Even the last releases of Anastasia BH palettes were underwhelming. The fact is that, at this point, everything has been done in the makeup industry: warm, neutral, peachy toned colors. Brands keep throwing us the same palette over and over again. I only got into makeup last year, but I follow a good number of makeup-related Instagram accounts and get e-mail newsletters from Sephora almost daily. Trust me, if you’re new to game, you’ll be astounded by the number of releases that come out every single week. With millions of Youtube makeup videos uploaded every minute, social media has completely revolutionized the way we interact with brands. There’s no doubt that we are living in a time of heightened consumerism.
This palette was developed by Anastasia’s daughter, Norvina, and is based on her love of purple. In one of the Instagram pictures, she says that purple is her favorite color, but she also wanted add balance with other whimsical colors, creating variety.
The hype around this palette is real! Even Norvina couldn’t believe the overwhelming response she got. There’s so much excitement around this palette. I’ve already seen the swatches and they look stunning on dark skin! Simply stunning! I can’t wait to share my final thoughts on this. These colors are calling my name waiting for me to try them on!
Fur Oil
A little TMI here, in her Intothegloss interview, Emma Watson swore by this oil, explaining that she applied this literally everywhere: from her split ends to her pubic area. This oil claims to help reduce ingrown hairs thanks to its 100% natural ingredients that can be used either for hair or body. My usual dilemma is, every time I go to any wax salon, seriously any place, I hear the words: “You have a lot of ingrown hairs” and I shriek in horror every time the aesthetician pulls out the tweezers. I don’t mind them. I even told one of the aestheticians at a salon that I exfoliated regularly with the loofa I bought there and that I moisturized my legs every other day. Still, I get them. I told this problem to another esthetician and she told me there’s nothing I could do since I have thick hair. Another fact I read online is that if you have curly hair you’re prone to more ingrown hairs since the texture of your hair is thicker and coarser. I don’t know how true this is. The permanent solution to this problem would be laser hair removal.
This product promises to keep the ingrown hairs at bay. Reading the reviews, people seem to have converted to this product. I can’t wait to put this to the test!
That’s it! Is there any specific product you’re in love with at the moment?
