Cultured Slice
229 CA-1, Hermosa Beach, CA 90254
Solanger Comer was born in Brazil and raised in the South Bay by her French-Italian family. Before moving to the South Bay, they resided in Europe. Solange said in an interview with Southbay.goldenstate.is, “I was exposed to so many cheeses and was eating Stilton before I could walk. So it was brought on at a very early age for me, and I loved it.”
In 2017, Solange took the plunge and opened her own cheese shop. Cultured Slice offers over 80 types of cheese, all cut by hand. At the shop, you’ll also find sandwiches with the best cured meats from all over the world.
Why did you decide to open Cultured Slice?
I started my business on October 1st, 2017, and opened a specialty cheese shop in Hermosa Beach. Almost five years later, it was time to grow as our sandwiches were getting popular. The perfect space opened up in Downtown Hermosa and I knew it was time to open a sandwich shop!
For a first-timer, what sandwich would you recommend?
We get this question a lot.. and it’s SO hard to suggest what our favorite is.
For a first-timer it really depends on what their “go to” is. If it’s an Italian, then The Son of Sal is a must. If they like Turkey, out Hey Turkey was one of the flagship sandwiches. Along with Pig and Fig. Those two are originals and very popular. But honestly, all of them are amazing!
