Hey! Welcome to my first blog post.
Today I’m going to talk about Speedplay, the latest trendy fitness studio in Los Angeles. This is a cross-fit gym located at the floor top of a business building on Wilshire and La Cienega. If you’re looking for a full-body workout whilst enjoying a magnificent 360-degree view of Los Angeles, this is the place to go.
This gym is the epitome of posh and beats any other gym or studio I’ve been to since I moved here. Unfortunately, it is not a gym corporation so you’re only way in is through classes.
As you will get to see through my posts, I love discovering new ways to amp up my workouts and challenge myself.
As soon as the elevator’s door opened, I was greeted promptly by the receptionist. The gym style is very sleek and modern. The rooftop area is lined in synthetic grass. On top of the curve treadmills, there’s a quote that reads “all day every day” to add energy and share it on Instagram. The truth of the matter is that Speedplay is so aesthetically pleasing you’ll want to be snapping photos of everything.
Before the class started, I was introduced to the curve treadmill. This special treadmill doesn’t require electricity and turns on based on your weight and pace. It was a little tricky at the beginning but luckily I got the hold of it in a few minutes.
We first started with sprints around the rooftop area, followed by a short warm-up with walkouts and push-ups. After that, we split into 2 different groups and started getting pumped up!!
We all had different stations to workout in. From the curvetreadmill, to TRX, kettebells, rows and floor mat exercises that target your core, Speedplay is the best choice for high-intensity training.
Our instructor was super friendly and made sure everyone was on track.
These are a few highlights of the pros and cons:
PROS
-The classes are taught in a very small group of people so you’ll get to connect and interact with people without feeling overwhelmed.
-Unbeatable 360-degree view of LA.
-Lockers and showers!
-The studio is very modern and the concept of working out in a rooftop with these gorgeous views is very innovative.
-The music was amazing and played a big factor in keeping me motivated throughout the whole workout.
CONS
Parking! Street parking is a mess and validation is $5.
Price ($30). They also have another location in Downtown which is $25.
If the price is a big factor and you don’t want to fully commit to the packages, I highly recommend using Classpass.
