Wellness businesses are everywhere in LA: from fancy cold pressed juice bars, to acai bowls to poke bowls, which can honestly be pretty overwhelming to say the least.
When I moved here, I sort of developed a healthy obsession for acai bowls. Even though I lived in Brazil as a child, I had never tried this superfood before. The colorful and beautifully arranged bowls make for enticing, mouth-watering Instagram pictures. Not only do they look good, but they also taste amazing and they are filled with vitamins, protein and fiber. However, in this life, you can’t have everything and there’s only one caveat that holds me back from getting acai bowls more often: they’re packed with sugar!!
When I found Welltopia, I asked them if I could visit the shop with my friend to write a thorough review on my blog. They couldn’t have been any nicer! Welltopia has been open since May 26th 2017 on Highland Ave.
So…how is Welltopia different from other acai bowl joints in LA?
Lulu, the store manager, shared a very detailed explanation.
For starters, they don’t use any refined sugar, and no preservatives or artificial sweeteners are added. Usually, most businesses receive the frozen acai sorbet that is already blended and sweetened with other ingredients, the most common being guarana syrup. Welltopia only receives the unsweetened frozen acai pulp. The best part? It comes straight from Brazil!
The shop was squeaky clean, and the attention we received from the employees was excellent. Overall, the things that stood out to me the most were the mission statement and core values, which were posted on the wall. On their website, they have a very lengthy section where they go over them one by one. Besides priding themselves on offering 100% natural ingredients, Welltopia seeks to create a synergistic experience beneficial for the customers, themselves and the environment.
Welltopia’s statement mission comes to fruition by carrying out ethical employment practices. From the attention to detail that goes into their bowls to their recyclable packagings, Welltopia has managed to successfully build a strong and transparent company culture based on the “Win Win Win” philosophy. This was very refreshing to see.
I majored in PR and advertising. During my four years in college, we had to analyze different company’s mission and core values. Our teachers strongly reiterated the importance of laying out well-defined business values in our brands. Welltopia did an outstanding job putting this into practice.

Let me take a moment to recall the taste of their unique honeycomb: Exquisite. This is coming from someone who is pretty indifferent towards honey. The brand they use is from Bennet’s Honey Farm honey. Welltopia carries their products, which are available for purchase on their beautiful honeycomb shelves. This company is located in Fillmore and their tasting room, which doubles as a shop, is open 7 days a week! Their motto is: “Producing and packing the highest quality honey in Ventura County”. Another reason to love Welltopia is that they use the best of the best. 🍯
I had the Red White & Blueberry bowl and my friend Cintia opted for the Daily Energy bowl. They have an array of homemade nut butters you can add on your bowl. If you’re not into acai, you can choose pitaya as a base. I can’t wait to go back! 😋
Welltopia is the best place in LA to get wellness bowls with high-quality ingredients at an incredible price. A kid’s size bowl is $6, regular is $10, and a large is $13.
Is worth it to drive to one of the busiest intersections in LA just to enjoy Welltopia’s delicious bowls? Hell yeah. They won’t disappoint. Thankfully, Welltopia has teamed up with all the famous food delivery apps so you can get a dose of wellness right to your doorstep!! Postmates, Grubhub, Doordash, Eat24 and Uber Eats.
Whether or not you live in the area, the drive here is sooo worth it, trust me. I recommend going there to see the business with your own eyes. In the near future, I truly hope Welltopia expands with more locations, making their all-natural wellness bowls readily available to all Angelenos!!
