Health businesses are everywhere in LA: from fancy cold pressed juice bars, to acai bowls to poke bowls, which can honestly be pretty overwhelming to say the least.
When I moved here, I sort of developed a healthy obsession for acai bowls. Even though I lived in Brazil as a child, I had never tried this superfood before. The beauty of the bowls makes for enticing, mouth-watering Instagram pictures. Not only do they look good, but they taste good and are filled with vitamins, protein and fiber. However, in this life, you can’t have everything and there’s only one factor that holds me back from getting acai bowls more often: they’re packed with sugar!!
I’m soo happy I found Welltopia. When I asked them if I could come over and write a thorough review for my blog, they couldn’t have been any nicer. They’ve been open since May 26th 2017.
But…how does Welltopia differentiate themselves from other acai bowl joints in LA?
Lulu, the store manager was super informative and explained the process from A to C.
For starters, they don’t use any refined sugar, and no preservatives or artificial sweeteners are added. Usually, most businesses receive the frozen acai sorbet that is already blended and sweetened with other ingredients, the most common being guarana syrup. Welltopia only receives the unsweetened frozen acai pulp. Want to know what the best part is? It comes straight from Brazil!
The store was super clean and the attention we received was excellent. Overall, what stood out the most, were the mission statement and core values posted on the wall. On their website, they have a very lengthy section where they explain them in detail. Besides priding themselves on being 100% natural, Welltopia seeks to create a synergistic experience beneficial for the customers, themselves and the environment.
This mission is exemplified by the ethical employment practices, the attentive way they prepare their bowls, and the 100% recyclable materials they use. Welltopia has managed to successfully build a strong and transparent company culture based on the philosophy of the “Win Win Win”. This was very refreshing to see.
I majored in PR and advertising. I can’t tell you how many times over the 4 years in college, we had to go over different companies missions and core values. Our teachers strongly emphasized the importance of establishing well-defined business values in order to achieve success. Welltopia did an outstanding job at laying a good solid foundation.

Let me take a moment to recall the taste of their unique honeycomb: Exquisite. This is coming from someone who is pretty indifferent towards honey. They use Bennet’s Honey Farm honey and Welltopia carries their products in-store available for purchase on their beautiful honeycomb shelves. This company is located in Fillmore and their tasting room and store are open 7 days a week! Their motto is: “Producing and packing the highest quality honey in Ventura County”. Another reason to love Welltopia is that they use the best of the best. 🍯
I had the Red White & Blueberry bowl and my friend opted for the Daily Energy bowl. They have an array of homemade nut butters you can add on your bowl and nut milks to drink. If you’re not into acai, you can choose pitaya as a base. I can’t wait to come back! 😋
Welltopia is the best place in LA to get wellness bowls with high-quality ingredients at an incredible price: Kid’s size is $6, Regular is $10 and large is $13. Someone next to us was having the large and it was huugeee! You’ll be more than satisfied.
Is it worth driving to Hollywood and Highland to taste their delicious bowls? Hell yeah. They won’t disappoint. Thankfully, they team up with all the famous food delivery apps, which will bring you Welltopia’s dose of wellness to your doorstep!! Postmates, Grubhub, Doordash, Eat24 and Uber Eats.
Whether or not you live in the area, the drive here is sooo worth it trust me. I recommend going there to see the business with your own eyes. In the near future, I truly hope Welltopia expands with more locations, making their all-natural wellness bowls readily available to angelenos!!
