The Best Cheeseburger In LA: Burgers Never Say Die

Today I’m coming at you with a new place: Burgers Never Say Die. This new burger joint offers what a lot of people have classified as the best cheeseburger in LA. 

But before we jump into it, here’s the backstory of the place. Burgers Never Say Die was created by Shawn Nee, who began selling these burgers from his backyard in East Hollywood in 2017, making weekly pop-up appearances at the Glendale Tap. Through word of mouth and Instagram Burgers Never Say Die became a foodie sensation among Angelenos. On February 16^th, Burgers Never Say Die opened their first brick-and-mortar location on the border of Silver Lake and Glendale.

Yes people, it was as good as it looked – simply fantastic. The edges of the patty were so crispy, and the whole burger just melted in my mouth. The cheese was on-point and the condiments were perfectly distributed. I’m telling you, the burgers here are cooked to perfection!! 

This is your traditional backyard-style burger: buns, patty, pickles, cheese and condiments. Don’t come here expecting a gourmet-style burger. Think of Burgers Never Say Die as the elevated version of McDonalds or In-N-Out. Although I didn’t order the fries, two guys next to me were sharing an overflowing full-sized cup. 

There is a sign on the front counter that reads, “Always Order Two”. Like I mentioned before, the burgers are backyard-style, so they’re not massively big. Heed their advice and order another one! Unlike McDonalds or In N Out, the prices are steep, but don’t let this deter you since the quality makes up for it. You will see the kitchen in the background where the cook is carefully preparing the patties and squirting all the condiments with excellent attention to detail to ensure you’re getting the best of the best! Since all the condiments are already added on your burger, you will wait a little longer than the average burger joint. 

My only advice is to get there as early as possible. A few days after they opened, people waited in line for two hours. Yes, two hours! And even back when they were at the Glendale Tap, the lines were also really long. I went to the brick-and-mortar on a weekday and there was a big group ahead of me. Luckily, it was a short wait time. But beware, it gets pretty crowded on the weekends. Thankfully, since it’s a permanent location, you will be able to go back again and again once the hype is over.

Some Yelpers have said that Burgers Never Say Die is overhyped and not worth the wait at all. Others have said that it’s overpriced and you can get the same burger anywhere in LA. 

I love burgers, but I can’t say I’m a burger connoisseur. Is Burgers Never Say Die worth the hype? Yes, absolutely. The flavor of the patty combined with the amalgamation of the condiments was incredible. The buns were marshmallow-soft. Does this burger beat all the other cheeseburgers I’ve eaten in my life?
