Living in a big city like Los Angeles comes with the perk of having top-notch coffee shops in every neighborhood. While many cities in the US also boast a great coffee scene, the number of coffee shops that have been on the rise in Los Angeles in the last few years has been astounding to say the least.
Back in late 2015, when I moved to LA, I used to go religiously to Urth Cafe, Joan’s On Third and Alfred Coffee. Although these places are mainstays in the LA coffee scene, an insurmountable amount of independent coffee shops have emerged into the LA coffee scene since then. While some of them are franchises and have been in business for many years, there has definitely been a notable influx of indie coffee shops specifically.
If you’re not familiar with LA, these are LA’s most famous franchises and coffee shops:
-Blue Bottle Coffee
-Verve Coffee
-Intelligentsia
–Carrera Cafe, Alfred Coffee and Dose Café, located on Melrose Avenue, are popular places where influencers and tourists flock to get their Insta coffee selfie.
-Bluestone Lane
-LAMILL Coffee
-Comoncy
–Stumptown Coffee in Downtown
I wanted to compile a list of the best, independent, under-the-radar, coffee shops in LA. Whether it’s the aesthetic that draws you in, or the excellent premium-quality beverages, getting coffee goes beyond a sensory experience in LA. You can go from getting coffee at a tattoo parlor, to getting coffee in the whimsical and bohemian mountains of Topanga Canyon. Please note that it would be impossible to visit every single coffee shop in LA since there is literally one on every corner. With this being said, I encourage you to support small businesses! I also included a list of Black-Owned coffee shops for you to support.
Are you looking to go beyond a quick caffeine fix and go to coffee shops that truly know how to pull a good shot? Keep reading!
Matte Black Coffee
UPDATED: November 2021
📍 1001 S Broadway C, Los Angeles, CA 90015
California-based artist Joseph Vides and food entrepreneur Andy Nguyea, have partnered with BMW to immerse visitors in a black-and-white comic book scene.
You will find beverages, a few pastries, some merch, and a neon wall sign on the back. There are semi-individual booths that include a table, a bench, and a window drawing on the wall that will take your photo session to the next level.
The place is not that big and, as you can see, it is perfect for sharing on social media platforms. The matcha latte I ordered was $7, so obviously, not the kind of place I would frequent for coffee, but it was definitely worth checking out. Matte Black Coffee opened in August 2021.
Cafe Santo
📍520 Whittier Blvd #D, Montebello, CA 90640
UPDATED: November 2021
This beautiful cafe in Montebello sources authentic Mexican coffee from the region of Oaxaca. They offer unique handcrafted drinks like Oaxacan Mocha and other typical chocolate-based drinks from this Mexican region. To share the Mexican culture in the community of East LA, Cafe Santo works in tandem with Latino artisanal food makers.
Saint J Cyber Cafe
📍4852 Santa Monica Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90029
UPDATED: September 2021.
This is one of the coolest coffee shops I’ve ever been to in LA. I loved it so much that I wrote an in-depth review about it. Read it here.
Saint J Cyber Cafe: A Coffee Shop Where Creativity and 90’s Nostalgia Meet (East Hollywood)
Lucky 7 Coffee
📍 1112 Hermosa Ave, Hermosa Beach, CA 90254
This is the newest addition to the Hermosa Beach neighborhood. From the beautiful wall decor, to the stunning presentation of their drinks, Lucky 7 has become a new favorite in the South Bay area. Some of their speciality drinks include their mermaid latte and iced strawberry mocha. You can also show them your support by shopping their merch, which includes tote bags and shirts!
Canyon Coffee at the Laurel Canyon Country Store
📍 2108 Laurel Canyon Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90046
This hippie bodega is frequented by Laurel Canyon’s residents who don’t want to make the trek over the hill to get their coffee fix. Besides being a convenience store, Laurel Canyon’s Country store also has a coffee stand that serves up coffee and other delicious baked goodies. Canyon Coffee is definitely a hidden gem. If you’re not familiar with Laurel Canyon, you will pass this place in the blink of an eye, so if you plan to go keep your eyes peeled.
The Palm Coffee Bar
📍 2922 W Magnolia Blvd, Burbank, CA 91505
This is easily one of the most Instagrammable coffee shops in LA! Their large selection of lattes include unique creative beverages such as the Lucky Charms matcha, a Rose Latte made with edible flowers, and a Hot Chai with edible glitter.
Vibes Cafe
📍 76 1/2 62nd Pl, Long Beach, CA 90803
This place is definitely off-the-beaten path, but if you ever go to Long Beach, you should not skip it. Beautiful decor, outstanding coffee and the location is next to a marina. What more can you ask for? I also highly recommend brunching there. A post about the best places and coffee shops in Long Beach is coming up so stay tuned!
Dinosaur Coffee
📍 4334 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90029
LA’s famous hipster neighborhood, Silverlake, is sodden with artisanal coffee shops. What makes Dinosaur Coffee stand out is the attention to detail that goes into the space, which permeates beautifully into their meticulous, high-quality coffee and drinks. The menu on the suspended wood slats reminds me of a Natural History Museum dinosaur fossil exhibit.
Terra Mia Coffee
📍 Multiple locations
Terra Mia specializes in Mexican coffee. Although it is a franchise, I had to include it on the list. My friend and I met at this place after I found it by searching for coffee shops in the Highland Park area. We were both astonished as to how good the coffee was! I also absolutely loved how the soothing Spanish-language music in the background evoked an immersive experience by transporting you to Colombia or Mexico. I later read that Terra Mia is well known by locals on the East Side. When we went there, people came in and out every two seconds because it is that good! Terra Mia is only available in East LA and South LA, which explains why it does a great job of flying under the radar. One of their famous specialty drinks is their horchata frappe!
La La Kind Cafe
📍 1426 Montana Ave #1, Santa Monica, CA 90403
Coffee with a cause!!
“After learning about the staggering statistics of what happens to foster youth who age out of the system, we were left in shock. Kids who have spent their lives alone were then left on the street at the age of 18. This led us into creating the We Are One project in 2017. We set out to provide everything youth needed to become self sustaining, happy adults. This meant providing help with housing, job placement, mentorship, and therapy. As much as we tried, it wasn’t working. Our youth could not get or maintain jobs, and without a job everything else would crumble. Employers were not willing to hire youth with no experience, or did not have the patience to teach them. If no one was going to hire our youth, we set out to do it ourselves.” – La La Kind Cafe Website
They also have an 8-week internship program for foster youth to see what they are passionate about and what career fields they want to go in.
Civil Coffee
📍 5629 N Figueroa St, Los Angeles, CA 90042
Civil Coffee serves a handful of speciality drinks, as well as a great selection of pastries, like the Maria cookies, which bring me back to my childhood in Spain! I love the touches of wood and the printed floor tile. The design of the place looks straight out of Architectural Digest. On top of this, they have a very extensive breakfast menu. Civil Coffee is also one of the few places in LA that lets you assemble your own toast!
Alana’s Coffee Roasters
📍12511 Venice Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90066
Alana is the West Side neighborhood staple beloved by coffee connoisseurs. They roast their own coffee beans daily in-house. Although the pastries are not made on the premises, they are fresh from local bakeries. What makes this place unique, besides their coffee, is the beautiful ambiance and ample indoor and outdoor space. Another standout element is the charming patio with an Airstream trailer in the back, which is a nod to the 60’s California hippie scene.
Go Get ‘Em Tiger
📍Multiple Locations
GGT is very well known among coffee lovers in LA. They started out with their original location on Larchmont Blvd and have slowly expanded into more LA neighborhoods thanks to word-of-mouth and the masterful preparation of their drinks. After all, the founders are award winning baristas of the United States Barista Champion Awards, which is like the coffee version of the show Top Chef. Another standout element is their bar-style service. All their locations sport the same enriched wooden accents and expansive white walls, which makes for a very relaxing vibe.
Maru Coffee Silverlake
📍1936 Hillhurst Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90027
Best green tea matcha latte ever! Maru Coffee’s quality is the reason why patrons make daily trips to this small coffee shop. Their consistency in delivering quality coffee is undeniable. Although the space is fairly small with limited seating, the interior is decorated beautifully in a minimalistic way. The touches of wood against the white walls add a special warmth to the overall atmosphere.
Neighborhood (La Brea)
📍133 South La Brea Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90036
This coffee place was founded by Matthew and Darin Friedman, two brothers passionate about coffee who also happened to live in the area. They deliver exceptional coffee in a quaint and warm environment. Stepping into Neighborhood feels like an escape from the hustle and bustle of the busy La Brea Avenue. I love the interior details such as the beautiful marble countertops and rose gold accents. Their street-facing bar is also great for people watching while enjoying your coffee.
Verve Coffee Roasters
📍Multiple locations
Hailing from Santa Cruz California, Verve coffee has three signature locations in LA. All their locations are equally well-designed but my favorite is the one on Melrose Avenue. Not only does this location have a spacious interior, but they also sport a beautiful patio with abundant lush greenery and ample seating. Before COVID-19, this place was always filled with people working on their laptops. You could feel the air of creativity as soon as you walked in. The coffee at Verve is really strong but not overbearing. Verve also boasts a great selection of teas. Additional amenities include free wifi and plugs that are available indoors.
Highly Likely Cafe
📍4310 W Jefferson Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90016
This aesthetically beautiful coffee shop is located in the gentrified area of West Adams. I cannot speak for the food, but the coffee was very flavorful and robust. The space is so nice with upholstered booth seating and the big plant smack dab in the middle of the coffee shop emanates an organic atmosphere which makes for a perfect coffee drinking experience.
Flowerboy Project (Venice)
📍824 Lincoln Blvd, Venice, CA 90291
Flowerboy Project is a beautiful Black-Owned plant store that doubles as a coffee shop. Stop by and enjoy their delicious brews and specialized lattes like the Rose Girl or Lavender Boy, while perusing their gorgeous array of flowers and goodies. For being in an upscale location such as Venice, this store is very budget friendly. They also have plenty of seating available for those who may wish to order some food or work on their laptops. I highly recommend ordering their salmon bowl.
10 Speed Coffee
📍Calabasas
📍 Santa Monica
Frequented by famous patrons like Miley Cyrus or Megan Fox, 10 Speed Coffee is the best coffee shop in Calabasas. The business is so spacious and the wooden beams add a nice rustic touch to the place. 10 Speed Coffee also has decorative bikes on display, hence the logo. It’s also semi hidden by trees, which makes it even more charming and inviting. This is one of the best places in LA to get a flavorful almond milk latte. There’s also a location in Santa Monica, but don’t expect it to be as secluded as the one in Calabasas.
All Time Café
📍2040 Hillhurst Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90027
There is a reason why all the celebrities that live in Los Feliz can be seen at All Time Cafe on any given day. Although their coffee is pretty pricey, it checks all the boxes of how a good quality coffee should be: invigorating, rich in flavor and fresh. The last time I was there, I saw Jeremy Sisto from Clueless enjoying his iced latte in the seating area with a friend. I didn’t muster up the courage to talk to him so I just admired him from afar.
Cofax
📍440 N Fairfax Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90036
After pigging out at Jon & Vinny’s, I always make Cofax a mandatory stop. Although Cofax is mostly known for their famous pastrami breakfast burritos, they have one of the best iced almond milk lattes in LA. Expect to find quirky Dodger’s knicknacks on the wall shelves. Just a warning, parking is very challenging in this area.
Coffee Coffee
📍1040 N Fairfax Ave, West Hollywood, CA 90046
Just a few blocks north of Cofax, this small inconspicuous coffee joint, which, besides having one of the richest tasting coffees I’ve had, offers delicious brunch staples. The good news is that Coffee Coffee has its own parking lot and outdoor seating available! How cute is the Garfield cartoon logo?
Black Elephant Coffee
📍3195 Glendale Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90039
Although there are a handful of places on the East Side, I found this place through Brad Pitt! He was seen leaving this coffee shop after going to his friend’s painting studio nearby. Black Elephant Coffee was founded by two Chileans who felt a strong connection to use the elephant as the logo due to their behaviour. Elephants are naturally community-oriented animals and that’s what the founders strived to create when they first founded Black Elephant Coffee, a community-driven coffee shop. Their almond iced latte was spectacular. In addition to coffee, they also serve a wide selection of loose-leaf organic teas. A portion of the coffee shop’s profits go to the World Wildlife Fund.
Little Ripper Coffee
📍4155 Verdugo Rd, Los Angeles, CA 90065
Aussie owned! You can definitely feel the surfer vibes that Little Ripper Coffee emanates through the logo, which is a wave silhouette and the surfboard plastered on the wall. If you want to grab something to eat, get either their scrumptious avocado toast or their lox sandwich! You will not go wrong! The food they serve is pretty solid for a coffee shop.
Wolf’s Brew Coffee
📍 4145 Norse Way, Long Beach, CA 90808
This is definitely a local’s only coffee shop! Tucked away in Long Beach’s Alamitos Beach neighborhood, Wolf’s Brew Coffee, which also doubles as an art gallery, has one of the highest quality artisan coffees in the LBC. They have vegan donuts as well!
Another place in Long Beach with great coffee that I really like is Lord Windsor Coffee Shop.
The Boy and The Bear
📍Culver City
📍Redondo
📍 Westchester
If you love coffee and you’ve never been to The Boy And The Bear, you’re completely missing out. The coffee shop’s employees are coffee connoisseurs who genuinely love and breathe coffee from the inside out. You can tell the undeniable quality and freshness of the coffee because they roast their own beans on-site. A shining example of how serious The Boy And The Bear is about their coffee, is their greatly curated dark Instagram theme.
Demitasse
📍Santa Monica
📍 Little Tokyo
Demitasse should be on everyone’s list, especially if you are a coffee geek! With two locations in LA, Demitasse stands out from their contenders in LA given the fact that they let the baristas demonstrate their creative flair. They have so many different styles of coffee available: espresso, drip, pour over, and even iced slow drip, which involves a stylish coffee tower! It’s very tedious yet fascinating to watch the brewing process.
Endorffeine
📍727 N Broadway #127, Los Angeles, CA 90012
Endorffeine is one of the most unique minimalistic coffee shops in LA. Tucked away in a Chinatown shopping arcade, this is a place that you don’t just stumble upon casually. Raised in NY by Thai parents, Jack Benchakul, the owner, offers many Thai-inspired drinks, such as the Pandan Vanilla Latte. Other out-of-the-box beverages include a whiskey iced latte. His career as a biochemist also explains the use of flask glasses. They only use Modbar to prepare the drinks, not espresso machines. Endorffeine’s minimalist decor and lack of fancy elements are designed to make your cup of coffee an immersive experience. The cold brews are served in glass bottles.
Copa Vida
📍70 S Raymond Ave, Pasadena, CA 91105
Located in Old Town, Copa Vida is an Asian-owned coffee shop which has been a staple in the neighborhood since 2013 due to their excellent specialty coffee and tea beverages. Part of the reason why their coffee is so good is because they roast their own beans!
Here are my other two favorite coffee shops in Pasadena:
Art+Science Cafe
📍101 S Madison Ave, Pasadena, CA 91101
The further east in LA you drive, the more coffee places have a strong Asian influence. This one in particular is influenced by Japan. I remember on my first time there, I was surprised to see an itamae (sushi cook) making hand rolls! This in combination with the fact that the Matcha they use is imported straight from Japan, make this place so unequalled and distinct from any other coffee shop I’ve been to. From the original décor to the food selection (they also make bomb avocado toast), Arts + Science is unlike any other coffee shop I’ve visited in LA.
Lavender and Honey
📍1383 E Washington Blvd, Pasadena, CA 91104
If you want to deviate from your typical latte order, Lavender and Honey, as the title suggests, specializes in lavender flavored drinks. Don’t forget to marvel at the beautiful succulent wall!! Food wise, all of their toasts are great but my favorite is the L+H toast.
Bar Nine
📍3515 Helms Ave, Culver City, CA 90232
Bar 9 is also a coffee contender on the West Side not only thanks to their open space, which resembles a warehouse, but because of their marvellous coffee roasted in-house. You will see the huge roasting machine they have visible to anyone who walks in. Their iced lattes are served in glass jars!
Found Coffee
📍1355 Colorado Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90041
From what you have read so far, many of the best coffee shops in LA can be found on the East Side. Located right off the freeway in Eagle Rock, Found Coffee offers tasty espresso blends, brews, specialty teas and exquisite pastries.
Laveta Coffee
📍 318 Glendale Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90026
Laveta is probably one of the most beautiful coffee shops I’ve ever been to in LA. The sleek concrete design with the funky light fixtures, light woods and touches of greenery gave me Kim and Kanye’s minimalistic, Bel-Air mansion vibes. Most people come for the coffee but end up staying for the food. In addition to serving exquisite coffee, Laveta also offers a wide array of exceptionally good food items such as their cauliflower bowl and chicken salad. The best thing about this place is that it has its own parking lot, which is always a blessing in LA.
Little Barn Coffee House
📍3329 Division St, Los Angeles, CA 90065
There is something unique about coffee shops that are located on residential streets. This minority-owned coffee shop in Glassell Park is a gem. The neighborhood reminded me so much of Mexico with its hilly streets and bungalows. I didn’t think it could get any better until I saw the lovely patio they have in the back. Little Barn Coffee House is vegan so if you want to grab a bite, they have amazing vegan breakfast staples as well. It’s definitely out of the way and it will take you a while to get there, but oh, will the trek be worth it! Their iced coffee is so good!
Bricks and Scones
📍403 N Larchmont Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90004
The first time I walked into this coffee shop I was truly mesmerized by the beautiful eclectic interior with its majestic chandelier and wraparound staircase that led to a very cozy upper floor level. Their outdoor seating area might be the most spacious one I have seen at a coffee shop. Whether you want to wind down and bring a good book while enjoying a latte or you just simply want to get work done in your laptop, Bricks and Scones’ unique atmosphere and vibe will make for a divine experience. Their pastries are baked on-site everyday!
Cafecito Organico
📍534 N Hoover St, Los Angeles, CA 90026
I love how peaceful the patio of Cafecito is. It feels like you’re in someone’s backyard! This area of LA is my favorite because of the juxtaposition between the lush greenery and the funky colored bungalow houses on the steep streets, but I digress. The coffee at Cafecito is very invigorating, perfect to either start off your day or after a nice meal.
Supersweet Tattoos and Coffee
📍1345-1347, Glendale Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90026
This might be the most visually stunning tattoo parlor I have ever seen. Supersweet Tattoo and Coffee opened up this year, and yes, this tattoo parlour also doubles as a coffee shop. I swear, in terms of the coffee scene, LA is pretty hard to beat creatively. Women-owned, good vibes, dog friendly and really good coffee — what more can you ask for? The coffee area has its own designated indoor and outdoor seating space.
Aroma Coffee and Tea
📍4360 Tujunga Ave, Studio City, CA 91604
This has been one of my favorite places to get lattes since I moved to LA! You can take your coffee to go, but since the restaurant has a lovely patio outside, why not sit there and take in the surroundings of the patio while sipping on a latte in one of their gigantic coffee mugs? Their vanilla lattes are the best. Don’t forget to complement your meal with one of their delicious homemade desserts!
Coffee For Sasquatch
📍7020 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90038
I love this coffee shop because it’s not in the trendy area of Melrose and Fairfax, but rather past La Brea Avenue, which makes it sort of semi hidden from Melrose shoppers that don’t go beyond the Melrose market or the vintage shops. Sasquatch strives to provide the perfect coffee in a relaxing environment. Decor-wise, I love how the touches of greenery and hardwood seating compliment the clean white interior. Although all their coffees are great, I recommend trying out their Cryptid Latte.
Cafe On 27
📍1861 N Topanga Canyon Blvd, Topanga, CA 90290
This beautiful cafe tucked away in the beautiful mountains of Topanga will take you to another world! The food and the coffee beans, which are roasted onsite, are organic. Even the coffee packaging is biodegradable! I honestly cannot think of a better way to enjoy delicious fresh coffee than with the breathtaking and peaceful scenery of Topanga Canyon.
Obet & Del’s Coffee
📍 5233 Hollywood Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90027
Super cool, retro-themed coffee shop in Thai Town to get your caffeine fix.
Thank You Coffee
📍 938 N Hill St, Los Angeles, CA 90012 (China Town)
Dialog Cafe
📍8766 Holloway Dr, West Hollywood, CA 90069
I almost forgot to add this place! I used to go to Dialog Cafe all the time when I first moved to West Hollywood. Not only is their coffee mind blowingly good, but the food quality speaks for itself. Order the waffle with strawberries, banana and nutella. Thank me later. The waffle is so soft it melts into your mouth right away. Dialog Cafe is family-owned, which explains why their food quality is a step above other coffee places you might come across in the area.
Le Ciel Pink
📍7266 Melrose Ave Ste 1, Los Angeles, CA 90046
Just as I was about to end this list, I came across this beautiful cafe in my neighborhood! Since there are constantly so many things happening on Melrose, I don’t really pay much attention to the newest businesses. Le Ciel Pink opened up in September 2020 providing creative, out-of-the-box coffee drinks in a beautifully curated space. If you’re worried about the sugar in their eye-grabbing colorful drinks, don’t fret. All of their specialty drinks are not overly sweet and you can always request to have them unsweetened. On top of that, most of the ingredients they use are organic and their creams are homemade! They use the LAMILL coffee brand, which is one the highest grade coffee beans. Le Ciel Pink’s mission is to dovetail healthy ingredients and aesthetically pleasing drinks. In June 2020, Melrose was the street that was the most affected by the lootings, so it makes me happy that new businesses are popping up.
Kindness Mischief Coffee
📍5537 N Figueroa St, Los Angeles, CA 90042
Kindness is exactly what this coffee shop is doing to the Highland Park community by allowing local vendors to set up pop-up shops inside, as well as food collaborations on their menu. The founder is a Philipino immigrant named Mo, whose message of unity and kindness brings people together. One of the specialty drinks is called “Minority? People Of Color Are The Global Majority”, which just goes to show you how much she cares about raising awareness.
In 2019 there was an article by the LA Times highlighting the emergence of Black-Owned Coffee shops in LA, so I wanted to show them my support.
South LA Cafe
📍1700 Browning Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90062
When Ariana Grande Instagrammed this photo, South LA Cafe received an overwhelming total number of 150 customers in 20 minutes. The coffee beans are sourced from the Red Bay Coffee Public Roastery in Oakland. South LA Cafe also has an adjoining grocery store that sells canned goods, vegetables, fresh fruits and a variety of other grocery essentials. I love their community-center approach by providing anyone that walks through the door with a fresh, affordable cup of coffee. Check out their Instagram.
Nimbus Coffee
📍 1115 S Hope St, Los Angeles, CA 90015
Do you love Harry Potter or anything that remotely resembles wizards or witches? Then this coffee shop in Downtown will help you relish in your childhood nostalgia. If you want to veer off your regular coffee order, explore their unique and creative menu! Don’t forget to take a picture against the wand wall in the back with the neon sign on top.
Silverback Coffee of Rwanda
📍1712 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90026
A portion of the profits of Silverback Coffee go to organizations in Rwanda such as the protection of Silverback Gorillas, hence the coffee logo, and the families affected by the genocide in Rwanda. The space is really modern and clean. Not only will you be enjoying delicious coffee, but you will also be supporting a great cause.
Bloom And Plume Coffee
📍 1638 W Temple St, Los Angeles, CA 90026
Besides their delicious and fairly priced coffee, this whimsical Black-Owned coffee shop in Echo Park sells breathtakingly beautiful flower arrangements and even their own merch, which features apparel, accessories and coffee mugs. The presentation of their toasts is lovely. Furthermore, their waffles are made in-house! From the beautiful neon decor wall, to the welcoming staff, Bloom And Plume is the coffee shop you will definitely want to go back to.
Please find this list with more Black-Owned coffee shops.
I also have to add Lou The French On The Block in Burbank. All their pastries are house-made and they use French butter on the croissants. 😩😩😩
Did I miss your favorite coffee shop? Comment below so I can add it to the list!
More coffee shops! (Last updated Nov 2020)
Regent Coffee Roasters And Brew Bar
📍249 N Brand Blvd, Glendale, CA 91203
Make sure to read the beautiful story of Leon, the owner, and his inspiration behind Regent Coffee! His passion for coffee is so evocative. Prior to opening Regent Coffee in LA, Leon used to work as a banker in China. With this daring move, Leon is the most pure example of quitting your job to follow your dreams. He says: “I experimented laboriously with roasting, and, as time passed, became even more fascinated and excited by coffee. Today, that same excitement is at the heart of my newest cafe here in the United States.” Check out Regent Coffee’s Instagram and website.

“Best friends since school, Mark Wain and Gary Chau quit their corporate jobs in 2006 to start their dream of working together and owning a local neighborhood business. Through their shared passion for European sensibilities, their experiences with coffee culture in Italy always stayed with them; the artisan approach to coffee preparation, the value of community, and the ability for a caffe to serve as both a way to get ready for the day, and a place to unwind for the evening. They both dreamed of bringing these experiences back with them to Los Angeles, and creating a neighborhood café to share with their community.” – CafeLuxxe.com

Rad Coffee
📍145 N Citrus Ave, Covina, CA 91723
“Rad Coffee was created in March 2015 and is the brain child of Rusty and Jade Valore. Skeletons and coffee are their claim to fame as well as creating sweet concoctions that do not only taste amazing but look like something out of Wonka’s Chocolate Factory after Halloween. Truth be told, they started this company because they didn’t only love coffee so much, but they wanted to be able to do what they love for a living. With Rusty’s years of experience behind the bar, love for skateboarding and possibly his favorite word being “Rad,” Jade’s entrepreneurial spirit and horror enthusiasm ignited it altogether.” – Rad Coffee website
What are your favorite coffee shops in LA?
