Kendall Jenner is the latest celebrity to join the overpriced Erewhon smoothie collaborations. The Peaches & Cream smoothie was released on May 15 and will be available at all Erewhon locations through June 14. The first day the smoothie was released, it was priced at $25. However, they seem to have lowered the price to $23. Yes, Erewhon smoothies just got more expensive.
A portion of the sales will go to Good Shepherd Shelter in Los Angeles. This charity provides shelter and resources to women and children who are suffering from domestic abuse.
I like Kendall Jenner and how open she is about the rituals that help her relax when anxiety strikes. Her latest video on Vogue where she’s horseback riding is absolutely stunning.
After seeing videos on Instagram of people doing taste tests of the Peaches & Cream smoothie, the overall impression was positive. One girl said that this was the best smoothie Erewhon had released.
A day later, I went to the Erewhon in Venice on a Saturday afternoon. My wallet cried when I handed the money to the cashier. I could have gone to the movies, bought groceries, or even filled up my gas tank halfway with $23.

When I stood in line at the tonic bar, I could hear the girl in front of me ask for the Peaches & Cream smoothie in a low voice. After paying, she made a beeline to the pick-up counter, where other 10 people were waiting for their smoothies. I thought it was funny because she was wearing a cap and didn’t make eye contact with anyone. When you pay this much for a smoothie, it’s not like you want to shout it out from the rooftops.
While I was waiting, I saw about 10 cups of the Hailey Bieber’s Strawberry Glaze smoothie lined up waiting to be filled up with a giant blender. It’s already been two years since it was released! Will there ever be another best-selling smoothie?
In a nutshell, the Peaches & Cream smoothie tasted like peach purée. After I took the first sip, I beat myself up for paying this much for a smoothie that I didn’t even finish.
The two ingredients that never seem to fail in these Erewhon collaborations are organic maple syrup and coconut, lots of coconut.
The first thing I noticed was the overly sweet organic maple syrup at the bottom. Another ingredient that Erewhon should drop in their smoothies is the coconut cream. However, the swirls of coconut cream automatically make the smoothie more Instagrammable and aesthetically pleasing. Hailey was the first one to do it in the Strawberry Glaze smoothie, and it seems that many influencers have followed suit.
The smoothie also has chunks of peach, which I didn’t like that much. There were some hints of Kombucha, but the peaches and the coconut cream were the main stars.
The downside of this smoothie is that it’s way too creamy. If the coconut cream isn’t enough, there’s also peach coconut yogurt. Why not keep it simple? About halfway through, the peach flavor wasn’t as prominent. It was mostly yogurt, coconut cream, and the organic maple syrup at the bottom. I stopped right there. The cream was too overpowering.
Hailey’s smoothie was a very clever marketing move. It was geared towards skincare and it conveniently coincided with the launch of her skincare line Rhode. It was genius!
This Kendall Jenner x Erewhon collaboration would have been the perfect opportunity to do something exciting with her Tequila brand 818, which she has been promoting everywhere. Perhaps a margarita smoothie with tropical fruits? None of the ingredients used in the smoothie piqued my interest.
I think it’s clear that I’m not a fan of this smoothie. Even if you really like peaches, you’re better off buying them, peeling them, and mixing them with whipped cream or Greek yogurt than spending $23 on this intricate concoction. I like the donation aspect, but not the fact that they hide how much percentage is going to these charities.
Since Erewhon collaborations are a recurring thing, be selective about what smoothie you want to try and do your research.
When I moved to LA in 2015, Erewhon was a low-key health food store on Beverly Blvd. frequented by celebrities and health nuts. The smoothies were simple and far from fancy, and I loved getting their cold-pressed juices. Since they rebranded and started their expansion, the essence of the original Erewhon has been lost. About a month ago, I talked to an employee about this. For example, the Green Goddess is a smoothie that has been a staple on Erewhon since its early days. It’s not necessarily the best tasting smoothie, but it’s very simple and packed with many nutrients and vitamins.
This is a far cry from the colorful and Instagrammable smoothie collaborations that have taken over Erewhon. When I told him how disappointed I was with the Hailey Bieber Strawberry Glaze Soft Serve Sundae (read my review here), the employee admitted that everything Erewhon had been releasing lately was very sweet and catered to a younger demographic.
